Movie Review
Guys and Dolls (1955) 4/4/12
This is one of the first musicals I actually finished. Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando make great Sky and Nathan characters. The movie focuses on two men addicted to gambling, one scared of commitment and the other possessing a narrow view on women. I do have one criticism though. Sky Masterson (Marlon Brando) did not seem to have fallen in love with Sara Brown (Jean Simmons) until his pride was being attacked. I found that unsatisfying. haha All due aside, the movie was wonderful and Sinatra did it again with “Sue Me,” “Adelaide,” and “Guys and Dolls.” “When you see a guy reach for stars in the sky….You can bet that he’s doing it for some doll.” I recommend this movie to people with sophisticated taste or who wants to pretend to be classy. haha jk Just watch it, you’ll thank me.
